The Milky Oats Challenge FAQ
Q: What is an infusion?
A: An infusion offers an easy method for consuming the oils and flavors from your favorite herbs. Infusing consists of steeping (soaking) herbs in water until the water absorbs the oils and flavors of the herb. Once this step has concluded, you will drink the liquid for the medicinal value.
Q: How much of the herb will I use to make the infusion?
A: For this challenge, you will steep 1 oz (1 cup) of dried oat tops harvested in the milky stage in 4 c. boiling water overnight (at least 8 hours) in a covered mason jar and let that steep overnight with the milky oat tops. Drain the liquid out the next morning and compost your herbs.
During this first week, you will add a pinch of powdered Equisetum Hyemale to the mixture (after the infusion has occurred)
Q: How much will I drink?
A: You will drink the entire jar per day! So, this will be one ounce of herb infusion created daily and a one-quart jar of liquid drank per day.
Q: Why are there 2 options - 14 days and 28 days?
A: We thought it would be fun to continue the challenge for the month for those who are finding great benefits from the challenge.
Q: What does biodynamic mean?
A: The Biodynamic Association broadly defines biodynamics as “a holistic, ecological, and ethical approach to farming, gardening, food, and nutrition.” This method was founded in 1924 by Rudolf Steiner. More information on the methods of this farming technique can be found here: biodynamics.com.
Q: Do instructions come with this? How will I know what to do?
A: Absolutely! We know the importance of having the information that you need in order to be a success with this challenge. An email will be sent to you getting you started. You will also find additional resources, including the eBook and video bonuses in your online TGN Dashboard.
Q: Can I blend the herbs?
A: Absolutely! This is a great way to get the most out of your milky oats.

- Help you sleep better and wake feeling more rested
- Nourish your endocrine system and regulate your hormones in ways that strengthen intimacy with your partner

Q: Are the milky oats gluten-free?
A: There are two different products used for this challenge - depending on when you purchased. The biodynamically grown and are not grown near wheat. The beyond organic herbs are grown locally in Colorado and out of the way of wheat. However, oats have been known to cause issues with gluten sensitivities, so we advise you to err on the side of caution.
Q: What form do the herbs come in?
A: The milky oats come in their oat top form. The Equisetum Hyemale is in powder form.
Q: What experiences have people had with this challenge?
A: Our team was the first to try this. Here is what they thought:
I have only been doing this for a few days, but here are my observations so far:
---->I feel a sense of what I might call "buoyant wellness" -- like I have a bit of an internal glow. Two other TGN team members -- @Jimerson Adkins and Sarah @PIP1022 -- are also taking the 30-Day Milky Oats Challenge and are reporting similar results.
---->My nails seem like they might be growing faster than usual. Hard to say for sure since it's only been a few days, but I am keeping my eye on this.
---->The first couple of days, I drank this infusion during the day ... and was sleepy. Then I switched to drinking it at night, a couple of hours before bed. Much, much better. I'm feeling "glowy" during the day -- not sleepy -- and after I drink those milky oats at night, going to sleep is easy.
--->The infusion has a taste that borders on citrusy, with an aftertaste like ... wait for it ... oatmeal. I am enjoying the infusion unsweetened and cold --- either refrigerated (after infusing overnight) or over ice.
Okay, that's my initial report after drinking the milky oats/equisetum hyemale infusion for four days. (This evening will be my fifth time drinking it.) I'll try to keep reporting back on this in case anyone is interested in the results. 🙂
