Come Say “Howdy” in Pennsylvania
I’m so excited! I’m traveling up to speak at the Mother Earth News Fair this weekend. I love these Mother Earth News fairs because it’s really the only time when I get to see all my homesteading and gardening ‘peeps’ together at the same time.
This fair is going to be in Seven Springs, PA – or as I like to call it, “far northeast Texas”. But seriously, this is a beautiful place and if you’re anywhere nearby this weekend I hope you’ll stop by and meet me in person. It is always nice to meet everybody who writes in – put a face to a name and get to know people a bit…

Great Lineup of Expert Speakers
The good folks at Mother Earth News Fair have lined up a really awesome group of speakers to give the presentations. Dan Chiras is going to be there from the Evergreen Institute – his talk on sustainable buildings really blew my mind last time I heard it. Jeannette Beranger from the Livestock Conservancy – she’s such a warm soul and I’m really looking forward to catching up with Jeannette. Her talks at the Homegrown Food Summit have been some of the crowd’s favorites.
And I can’t wait to meet Howard Garrett – I’ve read all his books but I’ve never had a chance to meet him before. And, of course, Joel Salatin is going to be there. He’s going to give a talk called “Salad Bar Beef” – ha – I can’t wait to see what that’s about…

I’m Talking on Saturday and Sunday
Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. I’ll be giving my talk on “How to Grow Half Your Own Food in Less Than an Hour a Day”. This is a great talk that always gets a good response from the people who watch it. I run through all of the easiest vegetables to grow and talk about how many calories you can get from them. This is the best way to plan a garden that actually provides a big part of your family’s diet.
And on Sunday at 2:30 I’m giving a talk called “The 7 Hour Business to Fund Your Family Farm” – and this one’s going to be a big hit. This is the first time I’ve given this talk, and I’m going to show people how they can make a good chunk of passive income by becoming contributors to the Grow Network. If you’re interested in that, you should check this out: Joint Venture Bloggers.
So come on out and see at the fair this weekend! It’s gonna be a great time.
